Organizing Your Way to Weigh Less

5  Ways Organization Can Help You With

Your New Year’s Resolution to Lose Weight

When you are organized you have more time to do what you want to (or need to do).  If weight loss is priority number one on your New Year’s Resolution/Goal list, getting organized will help you accomplish this.

1.  Getting organized will help you prioritize your goals.  If you are organized, you can focus on what it is you need to change in your life to accomplish what you want.  Change will not happen of you don’t reflect on what it is that is holding you back.  Take the time to break down your ultimate goal by setting mini goals.  ”How do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time!”  It typically takes 21 days to make a new habit.  Keep yourself on track with your mini goals and you will be amazed at the changes you make.

2.  Organization helps you to get enough sleep.  If you are organized you are effective in accomplishing what you need to do that day, leaving you enough time to devote to sleep.  Sleep deprivation is a huge culprit in your ability to lose weight.   You will be able to feel accomplished through your day, allowing you to relax and fall asleep easy.

3.  Organization helps you to plan ahead your meals and snacks.  Planning out your meals will allow you to make healthy choices in what you eat.  Using a journal to record what you eat is one of the most important tools for healthy weight loss.  Try an online system like www.calorieking.com.  This take the guess work out of food journaling.  Also, you will be able to record your exercise and set your weight loss goals.   Once you are accustomed to the system you will be able to record your food intake and exercise in just a few minutes a day.

4.  Organization helps you have a well stocked pantry and refrigerator with healthy items that are ready to grab and go and that are easy to prepare.  You will plan ahead what you need to purchase at the store.  You will make wise choices at the store by shopping from a list.  Your list will make your trip quick and easy.  You will not be wandering the aisles aimlessly choosing foods that are not going to be effective in your weight loss efforts.

5.  Organization helps you to schedule time to exercise.  Exercise is an important part of weight loss.  You will see increased energy, sleep better and have more focus.  If you make it a priority at least 5 days a week you will see results.  Jillian Michael’s from The Biggest Loser has a quick and effective workout series called The 30 Day Shred.  The 30 Day Shred DVD series is available at Target and at www.exercisetv.tv.  These workouts are approximately 20 minutes.  If you are organized you will be able to make time for as little as 20 minutes a day.

6.  Organization helps you to be relaxed.  You will have time to enjoy yourself doing things you want to do.  You will spend less time stressing over where things are or being late to an appointment or event.  You will be able to save money by taking the time to think before you buy.  If you are less stressed you body will lose weight easier.  You won’t have the urge to “stress” eat.

Monday is the usual day people  want to start trying to accomplish a new goal.  “On Monday I will start exercising”, “On Monday I will eat healthy”, “On Monday I will quit smoking”, “On Monday I will start the new project”. Any day can be your Monday.  Getting organized takes time, but once you have accomplished your organizing tasks, you will find more time to do what it is you want or need to do.  If you have made weight loss your want/need, you will be able to accomplish your goal through effective organization.
